[origin: WO2004011804A1] The invention relates to a device for compressing gases, especially air, preferably for filling tyres of motor vehicles, said device comprising a piston which can be moved back and forth, is driven by an especially electromechanical drive, and is mounted in a cylinder in a sealed manner. According to the invention, at least one defined leakage point (19) is formed in the piston (20), for the passage of gas from the working chamber (26) located in front of the piston (20) to the depressurised chamber (24) located behind the piston (20).
