[origin: WO2004013825A1] In order to characterise a bi-directional object, a user supplies characterisation data (50) to a terminal. Said characterisation data are transmitted (58) to the bi-directional object by the terminal, when received (60) the characterisation data are stored in a storage location of the bi-directional object. The characterisation data can afterwards be read and displayed to the user in order to facilitate the pairing of the object.
