[origin: EP1528147A1] Composition suitable for use as dyeing auxiliary comprises (a) 5-20 wt.% optionally substituted o-, m- or p-nitro-benzenesulfonic acid (I) and (b) 1.8-10 wt.% 1-hydroxyalkane-1,1-diphosphonic acid (II), which may be in the form of alkali or ammonium salts. Composition suitable for use as dyeing auxiliary comprises (a) 5-20 wt.% optionally substituted o-, m- or p-nitro-benzenesulfonic acid (I) of formula (1) and (b) 1.8-10 wt.% 1-hydroxyalkane-1,1-diphosphonic acid (II) of formula (2): [Image] (XO)2P(=O)-C(OH)(R3)-P(=O)(OX)2 (2) X, Y : H, alkali or ammonium ion; R1NO2 in the o-, m- or p-position to the SO3Y group; R2H, 1-4 C alkyl or 1-4 C alkoxy; R31-4 C alkyl. An independent claim is also included for preparation of the composition by dissolving (I) and (II) in water.
