[origin: WO2004014817A1] A highly shock-resistant ceramic material, especially based on Si3N4 or ZrO2, having a hardness HV10 of a maximum of 15.5 GPa and an E module at room temperature of less than 330 Gpa. The material contains 0.2 - 5 wt. % carbon particles having a maximum particle size of 5 µm. The invention also relates to a method for the production of a ceramic material and the use thereof, especially as roller bodies in bearings.
