[origin: EP1529936A1] Cooling arrangement comprises a water pump (1) for pumping a coolant through a circulating cycle of an engine. During the operation of the engine, a thermal condition parameter (5), an operating state of the cabin heater (6), the load on the engine a time parameter (8) and an error storage (9) are monitored. Preferred Features: The water pump is driven by a friction wheel drive (3). The friction wheel drive is mechanically pre-stressed and the water pump can be turned off by an actuator acting on the friction wheel drive. When the actuator has no energy, the water pump is turned on.
