Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004022402A1] The invention relates to a brake-by-wire electro-hydraulic braking system for motor vehicles, comprising a hydraulic pressure source that can be controlled by means of an electronic control unit, said pressure source consisting of a hydraulic pump powered by an electric motor and a high pressure accumulator that is charged by the pump. The invention also relates to a method for monitoring the above-mentioned electro-hydraulic braking system. According to the invention, the suction side of the hydraulic pump (23) is monitored in order to reliably detect amounts of gas or air when they have entered into the system. This is achieved in that the electrical characteristic data of the electrical motor (22) powering the pump (23) is evaluated so that any modification of the hydraulic delivery rate is recognized.
