[origin: WO2004019723A1] The invention relates to a hair shaping appliance comprising a handle (1), a shaping rod (2) joined to said handle (1), an evaporator (9), a reservoir (15) from which the evaporator (9) can be supplied with evaporation liquid, and a metering device (19) with which the amount of evaporation liquid entering the evaporator (9) can be regulated. According to the invention, an actuating button (34) is provided on the handle (1), is connected to the metering device (19), and enables the metering device (19) to be actuated by the hand gripping the handle (1). A one-hand operation of the appliance including the delivery of steam is possible thereby rendering the operation of the appliance, particularly on the back of the head, considerably easier. The invention also provides that the reservoir (15) is displaceably mounted and the metering device (19) is actuated by a corresponding movement of the reservoir (15). In order to improve the filling of the reservoir (15), the reservoir (15) has a lid (17) which, when the reservoir (15) is attached, is covered by a section of the appliance, and which is accessible, or rather, open only when the reservoir (15) is detached.
