[origin: EP1393822A1] The device is for precisely positioned feed of e.g. flat direct mail (6,a) to an intake for a sorting conveyor. A picker device (15) individualizes the flat parts and feeds them separately to a conveyor track (26). After these have reached a selected part of the track, a feeder device (30) transfers the parts with a defined advance movement, to the intake. The mail parts have an advance edge (14) are stacked in the picker device, and moved to the conveyor track with advance edge at the front. The picker device has a rotating drum (16) with suction cups (20) to hold a mail part, and a transport securing element engaging especially on the advance edge. Feed location is determined by a light barrier (34) associated with the conveyor track, and/or a contact sensor.
