Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2004000588A1] The invention relates to an air-conditioning system for a motor vehicle whose driving motor is switched-off, for example, when the motor vehicle is stopped for short durations in order to save energy. The inventive air-conditioning system comprises a compression cooling circuit, which has at least one condenser (16), an evaporator (10) and a compressor (14) that can be driven by the driving motor. The air-conditioning system also comprises a short-term cold accumulator (12) that, in particular, is provided for being discharged when the driving motor is switched-off due to the motor vehicle being stopped for a short duration. In order to enable the short-term cold accumulator (12) to be quickly charged, a first basic concept of the invention provides that refrigerant is evaporated inside the short-term cold accumulator (12) in order to charge said short-term cold accumulator (12). Additionally to this end, a second basic concept of the invention provides that the evaporator (10) and the short-term cold accumulator (12) are connected in series. In doing this, the short-term cold accumulator (12) is situated immediately adjacent to the evaporator (10) while being located downstream therefrom with regard to the refrigerant flow. The invention also relates to a method for cooling the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle whose driving motor is switched-off, for example, when the motor vehicle is stopped for short durations in order to save energy.
