[origin: WO2004024536A1] The invention relates to a power-steering device comprising a power-steering pump, and to a method for operating a power-steering device for a vehicle comprising a hydraulic circuit (11) provided with a rotary slide valve (5) and a steering cylinder (6) which is associated therewith, and a control valve (7) for adjusting a volume flow of a hydraulic medium as required. Said control valve (7) is arranged in or on the power-steering pump (1), on the pressure side, in such a way that it divides the volume flow (Q) from the power-steering pump (1) into at least a first base partial flow (A) and a second pilot partial flow (B). Said base partial flow (A) is independent from the operating state of the control valve (7), whereas the pilot partial flow (B) is dependent on the operating state of the control valve (7).
