[origin: WO2004021280A2] The invention relates to a method for extracting texture characteristics from a multichannel image that comprises a number of pixels (X1, Y1). The inventive method provides that, for each of the number of pixels (X1, Y1), items of pixel information from at least two channels (202, 204, 206) of the image are associated (208, 210, 212), and one or more texture characteristics is/are determined from the associated items of pixel information.
