The tobacco line (2) consisting of a multitude of fibers is guided by a suction belt (4) through a trimming device (8a, 32) cutting off surplus material (22) from the lower side of the line (2). A sliding element (10) is positioned in a fixed distance to the trimming disk (8a) in order to guide the material (2) through the particular area. The element (10) has a convex lower surface (10a, 10b, 10c) coated with ceramics or hard metal for a perfect shaping of the line (2) and is provided with openings (10d) serving as suction ducts.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung und ein Verfahren zum Fördern eines Strangs (2) der tabakverarbeitenden Industrie mit Hilfe eines Saugbands (4) durch einen Schneidebereich (6) in dem der Strang (2) von einer Trimmeinrichtung (8) zum Trimmen des Strangs (2) geschnitten wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Saugband (4) im wesentlichen im gesamten Schneidebereich (6) abgestützt wird. <IMAGE>
