[origin: EP1533404A1] A combing cylinder is fitted with teeth (ZG) that are formed in one piece, e.g. by milling and grinding, from a base (GK) arranged in sections (6b). A number of sections, which can be of increasing length in the direction of rotation (D), are attached round the periphery of the cylinder. The rows of teeth (ZR) are at an angle (a, b) to the direction of rotation (D) and the tooth spacing or geometry can vary from section to section. An independent claim is also included for toothed sections (6b) for fitting to a comber cylinder in which the teeth (ZG) are in one piece with the base (GK). The sections can be attached by adhesive, soldering or welding. Alternatively they can be attached mechanically by from a side flange, by bolts from inside the cylinder, or by using dovetail retainers.
