Abstract (en)
The exhaust gas treatment system for an internal combustion engine comprises a catalyser (16), and an evaporator/burner unit (20) in the exhaust gas flow path (14) upstream of the catalyser. The evaporator/burner unit has a vaporizing combustion chamber (22) is formed in a housing (21) which is open to the exhaust gas flow path, a vaporizing medium (34) to absorb liquid hydrocarbon and for the emitting of hydrocarbon vapour to the vaporizing combustion chamber, a heater (38) to heat up the vaporizing medium, and an igniter unit (42) to start the combustion of the hydrocarbon vapour. An independent claim is included for a method for the operating of an exhaust gas treatment system.

Ein Abgasbehandlungssystem für eine Brennkraftmaschine, insbesondere Diesel-Brennkraftmaschine, umfasst eine Katalysatoranordnung (16) sowie im Abgasströmungsweg (14) stromaufwärts der Katalysatoranordnung (16) wenigstens eine Verdampfer/Brenner-Anordnung (20), wobei die Verdampfer/Brenner-Anordnung (20) umfasst: eine Gehäuseanordnung (21) mit einer darin gebildeten Verdampfungs/Brenn-Kammer (22), welche zu dem Abgasströmungsweg (14) hin offen ist, ein Verdampfermedium (34) zum Aufnehmen von flüssigem Kohlenwasserstoff und zur Abgabe von Kohlenwasserstoffdampf zur Verdampfungs/Brenn-Kammer (22), eine Heizeinrichtung (38) zur Erwärmung des Verdampfermediums (34), eine Zündeinrichtung (42) zum Starten der Verbrennung des in der Verdampfungs/Brenn-Kammer vorhandenen Kohlenwasserstoffdampfes.
