Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1533489A2] The exhaust gas treatment system for an internal combustion engine comprises a catalyser (16), and an evaporator/burner unit (20) in the exhaust gas flow path (14) upstream of the catalyser. The evaporator/burner unit has a vaporizing combustion chamber (22) is formed in a housing (21) which is open to the exhaust gas flow path, a vaporizing medium (34) to absorb liquid hydrocarbon and for the emitting of hydrocarbon vapour to the vaporizing combustion chamber, a heater (38) to heat up the vaporizing medium, and an igniter unit (42) to start the combustion of the hydrocarbon vapour. An independent claim is included for a method for the operating of an exhaust gas treatment system.
