Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2004023058A1] The invention relates to a system for defending a target (11) against an offensive projectile, of the type comprising a device (1) for launching defensive projectiles and means of controlling said device after offensive projectile detection. The launching device (1) comprises a cupola (2) which can move in terms of bearing in relation to the target and a launcher (4) which is solidly connected to the cupola and which is articulated such that it can move in terms of elevation in the bearing of the cupola, thereby ensuring that the assembly is compact in relation to the target. The base of the aforementioned launcher (4) is articulated around a shaft (17) which is solidly connected to the cupola (2). Said cupola (2) takes the form of a circular base (3) which defines a lateral wall the height of which is less than half of the outer diameter thereof. According to the invention, the launcher (4) is rotated by a cylinder (19) which is disposed in the inner space defined by the lateral wall and which is solidly connected to one end of the cupola, the rod (20) of said cylinder being solidly connected to a lever (18) which extends out from the base of the launcher.
