Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004024397A2] The tool and the toolholder have two sections (18, 19, 20, 21) with different cross-section sizes arranged one after the other. Said sections (18, 19, 20, 21) in the tool shaft (3) and in the toolholder (1, 2) form reciprocal supporting faces. The first section (18) in the tool shaft (3) and the first section (20) of the toolholder (1, 2) have rotating and locking means (5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16) interacting with one another. The invention aims at providing a tool and toolholder that are compact and have a low rate of ware. To this end, the rotating and locking means (5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16) are arranged in parallel in axial direction of the shaft (3) or the toolholder (1) and serially relative to one another in peripheral direction. Furthermore, the distance between the rotating and locking means (5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16) arranged in the first section (18, 20) of the shaft (3) or toolholder (1) and the cross-sectional spread from the first section (18, 20) to the second section (19, 21) which has a larger cross section is shorter than the area of the shaft (3) or toolholder (1, 2) that is fitted with the rotating or locking means (5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16).
