Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004024529A8] The invention relates to a rail vehicle (SCH) having an emergency exit (NOT) located at the front (FRO), whereby a driver's console (FAP) and a driver's seat (FAS) are mounted in an end area (END) of the rail vehicle (SCH) that is located in front of the emergency exit (NOT). The emergency exit (NOT) is located essentially in the middle of the front (FRO), and the driver's seat (FAS) and at least one middle section of the driver's console (FAP) are mounted in a manner that enable them to be moved toward a side wall (SEI) out of a middle driving position (Fig. 1) located in front of the emergency exit (NOT) and into an emergency position (Fig. 2). When the driver's seat and the at least one middle section of the driver's console are in the emergency position (NOP), an escape space (FLR) is formed in the front end area (END). This escape space corresponds at least to the width of the emergency exit (NOT) and runs parallel to the longitudinal extension of the rail vehicle.
