Abstract (en)

[origin: DE10241898A1] An automotive exhaust gas filter or nitrogen oxides (NOx) regeneration holder has a feed inlet for an active regeneration agent with a movable deflector plate sub-dividing the gas flow into two. The active ingredient may be introduced into one or both parts of the exhaust gas. The movable deflector plate has a swivel-flap (83) which is presented to the oncoming flow of exhaust gases upstream from the exhaust gas filter unit. The deflector unit consists essentially of a shaft-mounted cylinder with two apertures and diverging gas discharge guide-plates. The hollow shaft has an outlet for discharge of an active ingredient e.g. fuel or reduction agent into the exhaust gas. The movable deflector plate, active ingredient feed and gas filter/catalytic converter are all incorporated within a single housing. An Independent claim is also included for a commensurate exhaust gas treatment process in which both parts of the filter are regenerated on an essentially quasi-continuous alternating basis.
