[origin: WO2004021046A1] The invention relates to a detector, especially a handheld detector, used to detect inclusions in walls, ceilings and/or floors, consisting of at least one capacitative sensor device surrounded by a housing, with means for producing a detection signal of said capacitative sensor device, in addition to a control and evaluation unit connected to the sensor device for determining measuring values from the detection signal. According to the invention, at least one measuring capacitor (16) of the capacitative sensor device (12) comprises a first electrode (24) which has a section (32) which is parallel to a wall (10) of the housing and which is pressed flat against an inner side of a wall (10) of the housing.
