[origin: EP1538340A2] The diagonal fan has an electric motor driven impeller (14), with the electric motor mounted in the fan housing (10) by means of ribs (16) extending radially outwards. The ribs are located in the region of the air inlet opening (19) of an annular flow passage (18) defined by the impeller hub (12) and air ducting encompassing the impeller. The blades (13) of the impeller are fastened in the region of the largest diameter of the hub. The impeller is located in the region of the air outlet opening (20) of the flow passage.
