The aim of the invention is to provide an operator control element (11) for actuating sensors (18), in addition to a method for selecting functions contained in an electronic memory by means of said element (11) and for displaying the functions that have been selected by said element using a cursor. To achieve said aims, the operator control element (11) is disc-shaped, can be tilted about an axis (14) that is perpendicular to the surface of the operator control element (11) and is provided on its underside with sensors (18) that respond to pressure and/or tensile stress. The underside (16) of said element is also equipped with spring elements (17) that are arranged in a ring coaxially at a defined distance from the axis (14) and that respond to pressure.
