Abstract (en)
A helmet for protecting a head of a user, comprises a shell (2) comprising a body and an outer skin affixed to the body; and an arch device (16) comprising a headband (12) with two ends positioned on the shell, and ear-covering parts connected to respective ones of the two ends of the headband. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a line of helmets for protecting the head of a user, comprising helmets as above adapted to a different sporting activity, having identical shells, and arch device having a different construction based upon the different sporting activities; and (2) a helmet assembly for protecting the head of a user, comprising a single shell as above, and arch devices having different constructions adapted for interchangeable use with the single shell during different sporting activities. Each arch device comprises a headband that can be releasably positioned on the single shell to facilitate replacement of the arch device with another.

Casque pour la protection de la tête comportant une coque rigide (2) faite d'un matériau de type polystyrène expansé surmoulé sur une peau extérieure (3) et comprenant un arceau rigide (7, 11, 16), lequel arceau comprend un bandeau (12) appliqué sur ladite coque (2) et dont les deux extrémités sont équipées chacune d'un dispositif de recouvrement d'oreilles (10). Les dispositifs de recouvrement d'oreilles (10) comprennent un coussin de mousse gainé de tissu. L'arceau (11) peut comprendre deux ailes (13) qui recouvrent lesdits dispositifs de recouvrement d'oreilles (10) et qui prolongent le bandeau (12) et peut également comprendre une mentonnière (17) qui prolonge et unit entre elles les deux ailes (13).
