[origin: EP1541757A1] In a calendar (1) process to glaze a moving web (23) of paper, a coating (e.g. printed legend or image) is applied to the web that proceeds through three or more pressure nip gaps (14-22). Between the nips the web is supported by feed rollers (28-35). The web is top-moistened prior to passing over one or more feed rollers (29, 32, 34). The moisture is applied as steam to a web of paper or carton at least 0.1 seconds prior to passing between hard and heated nip rollers. An independent claim is also included for a commensurate calendar assembly.
