[origin: EP1541758A1] In a process to glaze a moving web of paper, the paper is first dried, bringing the moisture content to 7% or less. The paper is then wound onto a reel and held in intermediate storage for 20 minutes or more, prior to unwinding from the reel and passage through a calendar in which the moisture cross-sectional profile is regulated further. The cross-sectional moisture profile is subjected to preliminary adjustment prior to winding onto the intermediate storage reel. After the drying stage, the moisture content is raised by 1 to 5 % using gas jet power and the cross profile moisture regulation is adjusted.
