Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004029833A2] The invention relates to a method and device for measuring similarity between images. The inventive method is characterised in that, for each image, it comprises the following steps: the image is segmented (1, 2, 3, 4), said segments are classified according to the orientation thereof in order to produce classes (5), a histogram is calculated of the number of segments according to the class (6), a histogram is calculated of the number of pixels belonging to the segments of one class according to the class (6), and the histograms of each image are compared in order to produce a similarity measurement (7). The invention can be used to group images, construct video recaps or index videos.
