[origin: EP1544353A1] A curtain coating assembly (10) applies a coating of liquid or paste to one or both sides of a moving web of paper or carton. The liquid or paste is discharged from an overhead supply reservoir (18) to an intermediate holding reservoir (26). The holding reservoir discharges to a removable release unit (120). During the start-up process the removable release unit travels with the web from a first position to a second position while discharging.
