Abstract (en)
A non-contact communication path, preferably an IR link, is used to transfer the necessary programming data from a household centralized controller (17) to a remote control unit (12). The link operates when the remote unit is placed in a holder (19) on the central controller, a simultaneous connection to a battery charging device (20) being established also. The central controller communicates with the individual household appliances by a combination of cable (27) and radio (28, 29) links. An independent claim is also included for a method for configuring and updating a programmable remote control for household appliances.

Durch eine Einrichtung (10) zur Konfiguration und Aktualisierung einer programmierbaren Fernbedienung (12) für Hausgeräte (21, 22, 23, 24), ist es möglich, die Fernbedienung (12) ohne Benutzereingriff zu konfigurieren und zu aktualisieren. Dabei befindet sich die Fernbedienung (12) zweckmäßigerweise in einer Halterung (19) an der Hauszentrale (17) unter gleichzeitigem Anschluss an eine Aufladeeinrichtung (20). So wird das vollständige Bedienungsspektrum in die Fernbedienung (12) übertragen, ohne dass der Nutzer Einzelheiten dieses Bedienungsspektrums kennen muss. <IMAGE>
