[origin: WO2004032170A1] An electromagnetic switching device (1) comprises an electromagnetic drive device (2) and at least one electrical contact (5) that, when a starting current (I) is applied to the drive device (2), can be transferred by the drive device from a disconnect position (contact (5) opened) into a bridging position (contact (5) closed). When the switching device is fully installed, the contact (5) can be blocked in the disconnect position and can be mechanically blocked in the disconnect position by an arresting element (11) that can be connected to the switching device. As a result, the contact (5) remains in the disconnect position even when the starting current (I) is applied to the drive device (2).
