[origin: EP1548788A2] An electrode (20) serves to generate a gas discharge. A metal fusing/sealing foil (10) has its first end (101) linked to the electrode and its second end (102) linked to a current supply wire (30) for supplying power to the electrode. On one (101) of its ends the metal foil has a reduced width. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) A gas discharge lamp with an electrode system; (B) and for a method for producing an electrode system for a gas discharge lamp.
