Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004035973A1] The invention concerns a retention element, in particular a sash positioning element or a leaf stop element, comprising a first arm (1) having a first friction surface (11), a second arm (2) pivotable relative to the first arm, a locking unit including a control element (6) and a locking element (5) having a locking surface (21), said locking unit being associated with the second arm (2), as well as a braking element (4) having a braking surface (20) in friction contact relative to the locking surface (21) and a second friction surface (12) in contact relative to the first friction surface (11). Said control element (8) urges the locking surface (21) against the braking surface (20) in a first rotating direction of the arms (1, 2). In this first rotational direction, the self-locking torque between the locking surface (21) and the braking surface (20) is higher than the friction torque between the friction surfaces (11, 12). In a second rotational direction, the self-locking torque is lower than the friction torque. The friction torque in the first rotational direction is higher than the self-locking torque in the second rotational direction.
