Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004036140A2] The invention relates to an ammunition projectile for a firearm and, in particular, a handgun. The inventive projectile, which comprises a nose and a cup, is designed such as to slow down sufficiently in the air that it can be stopped by a bullet-proof vest, said projectile having a precise and reliable trajectory. More specifically, the projectile (10) comprises a generally truncated-cone-shaped nose (11) and a cylindrical cup (12). The aforementioned nose (11) is provided with a central, essentially-circular flat section (13) which can be made larger or smaller and which has a diameter of between 10 and 50 % of the diameter of the projectile at the base of the nose (11) or the cup (12). The lateral face of the truncated-cone-shaped nose (11) is provided with five cavities (14) which are disposed symmetrically in relation to the axial planes and which are obtained by means of stamping, milling or any other suitable machining method. The invention is suitable for ammunition.
