Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1553671A1] The device has a housing (2), a central electrode (3) and an insulator (4) enclosing the central electrode. The housing has at least one associated earth electrode (6) and an ignition gap (8) is formed between the earth electrode and an ignition end (7) of the central electrode. A distance arrangement (9) is arranged in the ignition gap in contact with the earth electrode and with the ignition end so that a distance between the earth electrode and the ignition end remains constant.
