[origin: WO2004038184A1] The invention relates to a cam follower (1) of a valve gear of an internal combustion engine, comprising a thrust surface (2) for at least one cam. Said thrust surface (2) has a microstructure for the accumulation of lubricant. According to the invention, the depressions (3) form a largely symmetrical, grid-type microstructure, whereby two depressions (3) for each enclosed section (4) of the thrust surface converge in the manner of an arrow in order to form a corner point (5), in such a way that they are oriented at least in the predominant direction of the drift of a contact point (AK) of the cam on the thrust surface.
