Abstract (en)
[origin: DE10163087A1] Infrared radiator has a tubular ceramic support (2) having an outer side with a ceramic layer (3) as functional ceramic, and a core (1) having capillaries in the longitudinal direction arranged in the inner chamber of the ceramic support. Heating devices are arranged in the capillaries and a reflector (4) having a geometry to align the infrared radiation on the material to be treated is positioned at a distance from the support. Preferred Features: The core is made from a ceramic material, preferably Al2O3 and has at least one capillary. Longitudinally extending resistance wires (6) are used as the heating devices. The ceramic support is made from a quartz material or a high grade steel or ceramic. The functional ceramic is formed as a 15-50 micron thick layer on the surface of the ceramic support.
