[origin: WO2004038298A1] The invention relates to an actuation device for a cooking appliance (10, 11) comprising at least two cooking points (12, 13, 14, 15). Said actuation device comprises at least one actuation element (16, 17) which is associated with a sensor unit (18). Said sensor unit senses the actuation modes of the actuating element (16, 17) for selection of the cooking points (12, 13, 14, 15) for adjustment of a heating step and actuation of a respectively selected and activated cooking point (12, 13, 14, 15) for deactivation of the selected and activated cooking point (12, 13, 14, 15). According to the invention, in order to produce an actuation device which enables the cooking appliance (10, 11) to be operated in a more comfortable manner, the sensor unit can sense at least one other actuation mode of the actuation element (16, 17), in addition to actuation modes used for selecting the cooking points (12, 13, 14, 15), adjusting heating step, activating the respectively selected cooking points and deactivating the selected and activated cooking point (12, 13, 14, 15),
