Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1557241A1] To treat the surfaces of aluminum castings e.g. a crankcase (2) and cylinder head (3), especially for internal combustion motors (1), they are subjected to a dry blasting at low pressures using compressed air and salt crystals. The blasting removes any oxide layer together with any dirt and corrosion under it. The blasting mixture includes potassium sulfate (Na2SO4) and/or soda (Na2CO3). The dry blasting is directed at the outer side (As) followed by treatment of the inner side (Is) with added soda.
