The ignition plug has an ignition plug body with a body electrode, an isolator arranged in the ignition plug body with an isolator bore, a central electrode arranged in the isolator bore and a catalytic precious metal coating provided on the tip of the isolator foot or on the inner surface of the isolator bore facing the central electrode. The precious metal is platinum, palladium or rhodium.

Zündkerze mit einem Zündkerzenkörper 2 mit Körperelektrode 4, einem im Zündkerzenkörper 2 angeordneten Isolator 3 mit Isolatorbohrung und einer Mittelelektrode 1, die in der Isolatorbohrung angeordnet ist. Auf der Isolatorfußspitze, insbesondere auf der der Mittelelektrode 1 zugewandten Innenfläche der Isolatorbohrung befindet sich eine katalytische Beschichtung 3.2 aus beispielsweise einem Edelmetall wie Platin.
