[origin: WO2004037897A1] The invention relates to a polymer made of units bridged by a transition metal of general formula (I), wherein A represents an m-valent organic radical, T independently represents O or NH, Q independently represents CHR<1>-CH2 and R<1> represents H or optionally substituted C1-6-alkyl, R independently represents H, 2-pyridyle, 2-imidazolinyel, 2-imidazolyle, 2-thiazolinyle, 2-thiazolyle, 2-pyridazyle, 2-pyrimidyle, carboxy, carboxylic acid ester radical, carboxylic acid amide radical, carboxylate, phosphonate. At least one of the radicals R is different from H, M represents Fe<2+>, Fe<3+>, Co<2+>, Co<3+>, Zn<2+>, Ru<2+>, Os<2+>, Ni<2+>, Z SO4<2->, CH3OO<->, BF4<->, SF6<->, Cl<->, I<->, PF6<->, perchlorate, n is between 1 - 10.000, m is between 2 - 100, and p represents the number corresponding to the charge balance in the polymer. The average molecular weight of the polymer is at least 15.000.
