[origin: WO2004040683A2] .The invention concerns a postcombustion system (1) and a method for operating a postcombustion system (1), in particular for a chemical reformer to obtain hydrogen, so as to provide available heat from residual fuels and/or gases derived from a reforming process and/or a process in a fuel cell. Said method consists in controlled transfer of the heat derived from fuel gases recycled to a first housing (5) and/or to a combustion chamber (8) which is filled at least partly with a heat-resistant alveolar ceramic (4) with open pores located in said first housing. The control is for example carried out based on the temperature detected in the combustion chamber by means of infrared light measurement.
