Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004039250A1] An endoscopic viewing system (20) including a powered zoom coupler (38). The coupler is configured to attach the camera to a proximal end of an endoscope (22). The coupler includes a plurality of lenses (60-68) that are positioned within a sleeve (82). The coupler includes a first motor (128) and a second motor (138). Each of the first motor and the second motor move at least a portion of the plurality of lenses with respect to the sleeve. The coupler can optically focus and magnify the image applied to a camera. TRC system further comprises a control center so that it can digitally focuse and magnify the image. Owing to this structure, surgeons can, with a single control unit optically and electrically process an image displayed on a monitor (36). Since the image can be both digitally and optically altered, wider zoom and focus ranges are possible.
