[origin: WO2004043868A1] The invention relates to a method for purifying waste waters or other fluids or substances that contain organic pollutants, during which photosensitizers are introduced into the cells of the pollutants and are irradiated with light in the preferred absorbed wavelength range. The photosensitizers are activated by the light whereby resulting in the release of reactive substances such as singlet oxygen. These reactive substances decompose the cells of the organic pollutants by means of oxidation processes and reaction processes. The purifying agent or clarifying agent used contains a microbiotic mixed culture, whereby a portion of the microorganisms releases photosensitizers.
