[origin: WO2004042103A1] The invention relates to a magnesium material consisting of a matrix with C long-fibre reinforcement. The aim of the invention is to improve the resistance of the material perpendicularly to the direction of the fibre. To this end, the C long fibres are provided with a thin layer. At least one element of the material of the thin layer forms a homogeneous chemical reaction layer with the respective C long fibre. The thin layer forms a diffusion barrier, such that the local formation of relatively coarse chemical reaction products formed by alloy elements of the matrix with the C long fibres and acting as crack initiators is prevented. The invention also relates to uses of the inventive magnesium material.
