Abstract (en)

[origin: DE10253352A1] A treatment drum has a perforated outer shell (12) supported on an assembly of longitudinal (19) and ring-shaped sheet metal members. The members slot into each other through open-ended slots (26). After assembly the open edges of the slots are reinforced by connecting strips (27, 31) that are pushed through openings (29) and bolted (30, 32) or riveted (33) into place. One of the bolts (32) can include an eccentric section to provide adjustment for drawing the edges of the slots (26) together. The radial depths of the slots can be unequal, e.g. shallow slots in the longitudinal members (19) and deep slots in the rings. The connecting strips can be bent over to provide a rounded support for the outer shell. The connecting strips can also be modified to support a second inner perforated drum.
