Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004038513A2] The invention relates to a graphical user surface and to a method for indicating a defective state of an electrophotographic printing or copying system, using at least one display field (14, 16, 54, 56) for indicating a malfunction, the display field (14, 16, 54, 56) being essentially represented in a first colour in a correctly functioning first operating state. In a potentially defective second operating state with a potential malfunction of a first group, the display field (14, 16, 54, 56) is represented in a second colour. In a defective third operating state with a malfunction of a second group, the display field (14, 16, 54, 56) is represented in a third colour. The invention also relates to a graphical user surface (20, 40, 60) and to a method for supporting the elimination of a defective state of an electrophotographic printing or copying system, and to a system and a method for automatically producing messages in an electrophotographic printer or copier.
