Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2004042664A1] There are numerous driver-specific parameters within a motor vehicle (1), such as, for example, the setting of the driver seat and the rear-view mirror. According to the invention the convenience for the driver may be increased, whereby a key (2) provided for the motor vehicle (1) has a biometric feature, in particular a fingerprint, of the driver and, dependent thereon, transmits personalising information to a controller (8) on the motor vehicle (1). The controller (8) can carry out the driver-specific settings within the motor vehicle (1) by means of said personalising information, before the drive enters the motor vehicle (1). Furthermore, the personal wishes of an almost unlimited number of drivers can be taken care of by one single key (2), so long as the necessary information for recognition of the different drivers and the settings required by the individual drivers are stored in the key (2).
