[origin: WO2004047491A1] Apparatus for remotely obtaining a temperature of a fluid being heated by an electrical heating element (12), the apparatus including a switch (18) for governing supply of electrical power (16) to said heating element (12), said switch (18) being controllable to stop the supply of said electrical power (16) to said electrical heating element (12) for a duration sufficient for said heating element (12) to reach temperature equilibrium with said fluid, a signal generation unit (20), coordinated with said switch (18), for sending an electrical signal to said heating element (12) when said heating element (12) has reached said temperature equilibrium, a measurement unit (22) for measuring a measurable property of said electrical signal, said measurable property having a temperature dependency, to determine the temperature of said heating element (12) and thereby to infer the temperature of said fluid.
