[origin: WO2004048648A1] The invention relates to a method for producing a polymer fiber, which absorbs an aqueous phase or water and which consists of a composition containing a polymer (A1) and water in a quantity of at least 10 % by weight with regard to the total weight of the polymer (A1). At least two different areas of the polymer (A1) are moved away from one another by a free stretching resulting from the action of an external force. The invention also relates to a device for producing these fibers, to an absorbent polymer fiber, and to the use of this absorbent polymer fiber and of said device.
