[origin: WO2004049036A1] The invention relates to a method for operating an optical display device and to an optical display device. The optical display device is used to represent information for a user. The line of vision of the user is also captured when information is represented. According to the inventive method for operating an optical display device, one of the pictorial information variables can be altered according to the line of vision of the user. The variables of the pictorial information can more particularly include the size of the representation, shape, colour and intensity. By varying the size of the representation of the information according to the line of vision of the user, the user is no longer required to directly focus his or her gaze onto the optical display and is no longer distracted.
