Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1566868A2] Overvoltage protection element comprises an ignition element (3) arranged between electrodes (1, 2) to form a weak insulation (ignition region). On applying a voltage to the surface (5) of the ignition element a conducting connection is formed between the electrodes. The conducting connection has a low current-carrying capacity. An independent claim is also included for an ignition element used in the overvoltage protection element.
